How The Star-Ledger’s unyielding coverage of Sandy began online

As we make plans to pay tribute to The Star-Ledger’s physical newspaper as it transitions to online only, I’ve been having conversations with several editors at NJ Advance Media about the impact our newsroom and The Star-Ledger’s newsroom — then and now — have had on the lives of New Jerseyans.
Today, I’m going to give the super abridged summary of how The Star-Ledger and NJ.com covered Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Later, I’ll draw a line from Sandy to how NJ Advance Media covered COVID-19, beginning in early 2020.
